Sniff 'im out (Jillian/Jack)

Sam had enough information about London to get to the Ministry of Magic, but that was about it. He had a duffle bag over one shoulder and a messenger bag strap crossed over his chest. His broad form dew a few looks from witches and wizards filing into the lobby of the Ministry, but once he saw them staring, Sam just let out a laugh - his face breaking out into a grin. The duffle bag dropped to the marble floor with a loud, dull thud.

"Ahhhh..." He let out a long sigh of relief and stretched his back by arching backwards. "Now, if anyone can tell me just where I could find Jack McGregor, I'd be out of your hair in no time." He wasn't talking to anyone in particular, just glancing around for a helpful gaze to set upon him. He lifted the top flap messenger bag and pulled out an official paper from the magical law enforcement department in Ireland. "Got a paper sayin' I can be here." He was still talking to thin air. "Lot of good it does me if I can't find the lift." He pulled the paper towards him to look it over, shrugging at how vague they'd given the information.

Re: Sniff 'im out (Jillian/Jack)

Jillian was minding her own business, bustling through the lobby to get to work - running rather late, as usual. Jack and Gibbs had given her quite a bit of leeway lately, but she knew she had to get her act together and really start to get back to work in full force. Her head was buried in an open binder with photos and papers; she was going over a few names, looking for which files she'd need to pull out for the day.. and going over some of Venom's former case loads. He was a damn good Hitwizard, and she was more than a little excited about having him on her team. So excited that she failed to notice the thing on the ground that she was about to -

With a yelp of surprise, Jillian tripped over the duffle and flailed her arms in a failed attempt to catch herself. Instead, she wound up with her hands twisted in the cloth of a shirt: a shirt that didn't belong to her. Groaning in embarrassment, she let go of him and scrambled to stand back up and gather her purse and file in one fell swoop. "I am so sorry," she muttered, dusting herself off. After she was certain she'd gotten most of the damage under control, she looked up at the man she'd nearly de-clothed. Her cheeks pinked a little more than they already were from the humiliation of being clumsy as her eyes fell upon a very handsome face. "I didn't..." she looked around at all of his stuff, "Hurt you or anything, did I?" Offering a sheepish, lopsided smile, she hoped she hadn't done any damage to his belongings, either.

Sam was quick, but not quick enough to catch the flailing woman. Luckily, his shirt seemed a suitable lifeline for her. When she had righted herself, Sam could not help but laugh at the way her cheeks turned so pink. "Hurt me?" He laughed longer and louder, "Aye, miss, it would take more than a little thing like you to take me down." He chuckled a bit more, "But you may be able to help. Have ya heard of a man named Jack McGregor? I've come to call for him - a bit of a surprise really. I'm his cousin, see?" He flashed her the paper, "And authorized to make my way to the department, but... I've never been here, and I wouldn't know up from down."

He looked her over, "And if you help, I could get my bags off the floor and avoiding tripping anymore pretty girls like you." He never realized when he was flirting. It just came natural. He hoisted up the dufflebag on his shoulder and grinned at her, "So what do ya say, lass? Can ya help me or shall I keep lookin' for a kind soul?"

Re: Sniff 'im out (Jillian/Jack)

She was embarrassed, to say the least. It was frustrating to her: she was supposed to be a proud member of the DMLE, head of her own reconnaissance team - and there she was, tripping all over herself like an eight-legged elephant on roller skates. She chuckled at his response, giving him a good look from head to toe. "I suppose it would. You look like you could take two or three of me before being knocked over," she grinned, laughing a bit.

Her eyebrows raised significantly at the mention of the familiar Auror's name, but she didn't speak until the other man was through. "Jack? Yeah, who hasn't?" she chuckled, nodding toward the lifts. "C'mon, I'll take you up." Jillian smiled brightly, giggling and blushing at bit at his seemingly endless wealth of compliments. "Can't have you tripping the rest of the girls in my department, can we?" Stepping into the lift, she waited for him to join her.

"Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Level 2, please," she said. The voice replied and off they zipped. "So," she grinned, looking toward him. Jillian's eyes sparkled with a bright friendliness. "Jack has a cousin? Rugged handsomeness must run in the family," she chimed in a sing-song voice, masking a tiny little giggle.

"'Who hasn't?'" He mocked, "Oh boy... don't tell me he's been breaking hearts..." He clucked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and followed her into the lift. Sam laughed when she started talking about the family. "Jack's got a lot of cousins. Irish blood, girl - we get around." He laughed, "I grew up with him, though. Our fathers were close as brothers, so it was only natural for us to be the same. they sent him here alone to prove that one could work without the other, I think. But now with all the hub-bub going on in this little neighborhood, they figured he might need some help, so they sent me. Good ol' Sammy to the rescue." He laughed again, a booming sort of sound, just as the doors opened onto the second level.

"As for the good looks, I got 'em all. Jacky got the leftovers, but he does well with what he's got." Sam winked again and adjusted the dufflebag on his shoulder. He glanced at the floor. "Department of Magical Law Enforcement, eh? Fancy." He smiled at Jillian, "Which way, buttercup?"

"If he's been breakin' any hearts, I haven't heard about it... and I'm not one of them," she winked. "Nobody gets that honor. Breaking my heart, I mean." Jillian watched him as he spoke, listening to the somewhat familiar, yet fascinating, accent. She knew what it was like to have close cousins - once. She hadn't seen her family in years. "Oh, so you've been sent over as a transplant, too? I feel bad for the Ministry sometimes. Going international seems to be the trend these days. Soon we'll all outnumber the natives," she giggled, her hair bouncing sweetly as she turned her head to and fro, shaking in time with her laughter.

"I dunno, Jack's a pretty good lookin' fella," she said, placing her free hand on her hip. The other arm tucked her folders closer as the lift came to a halt. The soft, female voice chimed its usual 'Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Level Two,' just before the doors open and she nodded for the man to follow her. It wasn't until he called her buttercup that she realized she hadn't even introduced herself. "How rude of me," she said, halting as they neared the branching off of the two different offices. "I haven't even introduced myself properly," she offered him her free hand. "Jillian Russell. Hitwizard. Chief of Reconnaissance." Her smile widened and her eyes sparkled with the excitement of meeting someone new. After she'd given him a strong, firm shake she lead him toward the Auror's offices. "Jack's around in this gaggle somewhere," she said. "McGregor?"

Re: Sniff 'im out (Jillian/Jack)

Jack had been keeping himself busy lately by distractions. Distractions at work came in the form of taking up spare cases, helping out the Hitwizards on some of their extra cases where an Auror's involvement was needed, and mostly just sitting around the office all day. It wasn't that he was unhappy or trying to keep himself distracted some something in particular, he had just been growing quite bored with everything lately. The only small glimmer of light that had been lucky enough to penetrate his lazy haze had been the spunky Irishwoman he'd continue to run into at the pub. Her company was always welcome, but he'd still not managed to figure out if she were Magical or Muggle. They had met in a muggle bar, but Magical visited muggle places all the time. But he couldn't exactly just come out and ask "Hey, do you have any magic?" If she were a muggle, the last thing he needed was to out the magical community just because he couldn't keep his Irish charm to himself.

Propped with his legs up n his desk, Jack was leaning back in chair reading over a case-file from two years ago. It was a simple open and shut case, but Jack liked to read the old files to keep him sharp on new files that may come in. He stifled a yawn when he heard someone call his name. The setup of the office was similar to that of the Hitwizards, with multiple desks in a single large area so that they could all spring into action or easily share information on a shared case. There were privacy walls around sections of desks, and instead of actually standing to see who had called to him, Jack just raised his hand in the air so they could see it. "M'over here!"

Sam took her hand, and once she was done shaking his, he brought it up as he bent down and kissed the back of it lightly. "Sam McGregor, as I said before. And I must say - your name is just as beautiful as those eyes of yours." He gave her a smile and a quick wink before straightening up and surveying the room as she called out for his cousin. The familiar drawl came from one direction and Sam was quick to take a few long strides to cross the distance. He leaned against the privacy wall and dropped his bag unceremoniously in Jack's lap.

"Aye, that you are, and so am I, funny enough." He laughed and slapped Jack hard on the back. "Good t' see you're still kicking, my boy. Had the whole clan spooked when the reports started t' roll in." He tossed a look over his shoulder and waved Jillian up. "But I can't say I can blame you for not remembering to write home. Not with girls like this lingering about. Did you just forget to tell me that London was full to the brim of good looking women?"

Re: Sniff 'im out (Jillian/Jack)

She was flustered, that was for certain. Flirtatious or not, she wasn't used to being blatantly complimented by men. Her cheeks pinked and remained so as he spoke. "Very nice to meet you," she said, her voice sweet and songlike. Jillian grinned and pointed in the direction that Jack's hand had raised from, and wandered along with Sam to help him weave through the maze of cubicles that led to his cousin. "Here we go," she said quietly. The two seemed to have quite a bit of catching up to do, so she stood by and remained silent for a few minutes as they spoke.

Her lips were spread in a wide grin as Sam spoke to Jack, and she couldn't repress a quiet giggle. "He's worse than you, Jack," she said, giving the Auror a wink before letting her eyes wander back over toward Sam. "Looks like making girls' knees buckle runs in the family." Jillian had to admit that she felt a little bit awkward being in the middle of their conversation, and nodded to them both. "I'd love to stick around and chat more, but I've got a stack of paperwork," she held her hand up as high above her head as it would reach without making herself grow to an abnormal height, "Up to here waiting for me. You know where to look if y'need me, McGregor." Nodding to Sam once more, she gave a wink and a wave. "Catch you boys later." And with that, Jillian was off to work, taking one last glance over her shoulder before rounding the corner and heading for her office.

Re: Sniff 'im out (Jillian/Jack)

Jack leaned back in his chair again, stretching his legs up to rest on the edge of his desk as he flipped through a folder with random papers and files from a case he'd been on sometime last month. There was still a bit of information that needed to be recorded about it, but lucky for him the case was nothing serious and didn't require his immediate attention. The voice that had called his name came closer, and it was accompanied by another voice. Still muffled, but somehow familiar...

"Oof!" Jack's feet fell from his desk as a large duffel bag landed with a thud in his lap. He slammed the folder down on his desk and frowned deeply as he glanced up to see who it was. "Who in the bloody hell..." His frown faded and his lips cracked into a wide toothy grin. He stood so quickly that the duffel bag flew off his lap and onto the floor. "Jesus Christ! If it in't th'bastard himself!" Jack moved around from his privacy wall and tugged Sam into a large, rough Irish hug. He slapped him on the back a few hard times before holding him out at arm's length. "I'll be damned! Y'look good, Sam. How yah been?"

When Jillian waved the two off, Jack turned to give her a large grin and a wave. "Thanks, Jill. Remind me that I owe you a cup o' coffee next time f'this." He turned back to Sam and scrubbed his jaw, mouth still hanging open in a smile. "What're y'doing here? You shoulda tol' me you were comin' into town! I can't believe they let a troublemaker like you into the country," Jack chuckled softly. "How long're you here for?"

Sam returned his cousin's hug with fervor. "Yer damn right I look good! Wish I could say the same for you, boy! Ain't a thing that can be done for what the good Lord gave you though." He winked and plopped himself into Jack's chair, leaning back and toying with the things on his desk. "What 'm I doin' here? Jack, the whole family's up in arms about what they've been hearin' from London town! All these attacks, people goin' missin' - and not so much as a word from Ireland's favorite son." He gave Jack a lopsided grin, "So o' course they sent me in to keep an eye on you." He leaned back and put both hands behind his head.

"Yer da sends his love and told me to give you somethin'." He let his hands drop to search through his pockets. "Where did I... Oh wait..." he stood up and reached into his back pocket before moving his hand quickly to slap Jack in the back of the head. "You don't want to know what yer mum sent." He laughed and patted Jack hard on the back. "Ah, it's good t' see you again, my friend. So tell me - what's all the trouble?"
